What is the DocSafe Roundtable?

The roundtable is part of the wider #DocSafe initiative, a global, community-driven effort advocating for safer, more ethical practices in the documentary industry and beyond. It fosters critical reflection and action around a broad range of challenges, including harassment, abuse of power, ethical breaches, and curatorial blind spots. Rather than acting as a watchdog, DocSafe provides a space for dialogue, self-assessment, and collective learning.

At AFID, this roundtable will bring together filmmakers, producers, curators, and institutional representatives to share practices, identify needs, and propose actionable steps—particularly within the Arab world and the Global South.
