Synopsis
In the vast expanse of the desert, a determined young geologist finds herself stranded. She is the lone survivor of a group of geologists on a survey mission who drowned due to sudden rain caused by climate change. Faced with the harsh reality of her circumstances, she sets forth on a profound and introspective odyssey, A mysterious traveller with a turbulent past joins her and presents a series of puzzling challenges to inspire and motivate her. Through their shared journey, she grapples with conflicting emotions, oscillating between the unwavering hope of survival and an inner resistance to the inescapable forces of fate.
Director’s biography
Writer/Director Mooney Abu Samra embarked on her cinematic journey in 2021. She studied filmmaking with the Royal Film Commission, receiving training in narrative and documentary filmmaking, as well as literary adaptation for the screen. She began her career as an editor in 2016, working with reputable production companies, television channels, and international organizations.
Abu Samra is developing her first feature film, Desert Cargo which has received three awards in the development category at the Amman International Film Festival.
With a strong passion for cinema, she aspires to continue creating inspirational cinematic works that resonate with audiences and contribute to the advancement of the Arab film industry.
