Synopsis

What if a dog were no longer just a pet but treated as a human How would it face justice With this idea director Laetitia Dosch presents a bold film a vibrant and captivating legal dramedy In Dog on Trial we meet Avril an independent lawyer When her hopeless client Dariusch asks her to defend his loyal dog Cosmos she can't resist Thrown into the absurdity of defending a dog she faces a legal system that holds Cosmos's life in the balance His story becomes a layered tale exploring legal and philosophical questions around animal personhood challenging how we see and treat our pets

Director’s biography

In 2013 Laetitia Dosch starred under the direction of Justine Triet in Age of Panic She then worked with Christophe Honoré Sophies Misfortunes Catherine Corsini Summertime and Maïwenn My King She played the title role in Jeune Femme directed by Léonor Serraille which won the Caméra dOr at Cannes in 2017 and earned her a César nomination She then took on the lead role in Anthony Cordiers Gaspard at the Wedding and worked with Guillaume Senez on Our Struggles In 2018 she conceived and created the show Hate at the Théâtre de Vidy Lausanne a unique duo between herself and her horse.
