My Muslim Husband

Alexandra marries Daniel, a young Romanian convert to Islam. She believes that being open to learning about a different culture will enable her new family to find happiness and harmony. But soon, the young couple has to face not only the religious discrimination of society but also other prejudices. Alexandra and Daniel must fight for each other and their relationship, even though it means leaving behind their old selves or cutting off some people from their lives.
Daniel Bărnuți, born in 1981 in Romania, graduated from Law School in 2005. After working in TV, he shifted to filmmaking in 2010, producing shorts and commercials, and earning a Master's in Documentary Filmmaking from Bábes Bolyai University. His accolades include Documentary Campus Masterschool (2018), Series Lab DFI (2020), Dock Tank (2020), Docu Rough Cut Boutique (2022), and Take Film on Impact (2023). Currently, he's developing a project with Balkan Documentary Discovery. His films often explore themes of spiritual journeys, travel, and food.
Alexandra Lizeta Laura Bărnuți, born in 1988 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, graduated from the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations and holds a Master's in International Business Administration and Communication. After years as an entrepreneur and working in international creative companies, she attended prestigious workshops like Documentary Campus Masterschool (2018), Series Lab (2020), Dock Tank (2020), Docu Rough Cut Boutique (2022), and Take Film on Impact (2023). She is currently developing a project with Balkan Documentary Discovery.
"My Muslim Husband" is their first feature-length film, co-produced with HBO Europe.
