The Call Of the Brook
Synopsis
A boy lives with his mother on the banks of a Brook inhabited by a siren who seeks to kill the boy after drowning his father in the Brook. The mother's obsession with protecting her son drives her crazy and drives her son to doubt everything and hasten his inevitable fate.
Director’s biography
Jad Chahine is an Egyptian director. He studied filmmaking at the Higher Institute of Cinema in Egypt (2018) and worked as an assistant director with prominent filmmakers, including Yousry Nasrallah. Chahine’s first short film "Al Toraa’/The Call of the Brook" was the first Egyptian film to be selected for the LA CINEF competition at the Cannes Film Festival since 2014. Chahine is currently developing his first feature film.

ملخص الفيلم
يعيش فتىً صغير مع والدته على ضفاف جدول تسكنه عفريتة تحاول قتل الصبي بعد أن أغرقت والده في الجدول. يزداد هوس الأم بحماية ابنها، ما يدفعها للجنون ويجعل ابنها يشكك في كل شيء ويُسرّع من مصيره المحتوم
سيرة المخرج
جاد شاهين مخرج مصري بدأ دراسة الإخراج السينمائي في المعهد العالي للسينما عام ٢٠١٨ بعد أن درس الإعلام. عمل في بداياته مع المخرج المصري الكبير يسري نصر الله كمساعد مخرج قبل أن يبدأ في عمل فيلمه القصير "الترعة" والذي شارك في المسابقة الرسمية لمهرجان كان السينمائي عام ٢٠٢٣.
